Re: reporting testing, yes, import test data sets and run the reports against them. For transactions you may have to enter bogus transactions to test that and them have those wiped out. Depending on which vendor/product you’re using, this might be easy or it might be difficult!

User acceptance testing by Karen Hansen https://effectivedatabase.com/where-does-implementation-fail-user-acceptance-testing/#comment-1406 Wed, 10 May 2017 17:09:18 +0000 http://effectivedatabase.com/?p=9013#comment-1406 I’m implementing a new AMS right now and plan to have my staff explore everything well before it’s live, but I’m struggling with how to do testing at scale, especially for things like reporting. Do we import a bunch of test data to run reports on and then clear it out before going live? What about reports that rely on data accumulated over time, like transactions?

I’ve sat in on a few of those, Joanna, and they are quite valuable!

Town halls and overview sessions are so important. We hold overview sessions for every quarterly MatrixMaxx release to walk our clients through the new features and discuss the roadmap for upcoming releases. We also hold a couple town halls each year to get feedback on our road map and get specific feedback on development underway. We display wireframes and share designs. We have heard from our clients that these sessions are invaluable, and very few clients ever miss them!

Comment on This is NOT what business development looks like by Kevin Jackson https://effectivedatabase.com/this-is-not-what-business-development-looks-like/#comment-1402 Thu, 03 Nov 2016 14:15:11 +0000 http://effectivedatabase.com/?p=7612#comment-1402 Again, ouch! I don’t agree that consultants elongate the sales cycle, it has been my experience that they often shorten it, and remove often ineffective steps. On the business development example, I would be curious to hear the other side of the story, since there usually is one.

Perhaps. But how would I know that? Common courtesy would suggest they tell me “We don’t work with consultants” or “We don’t respond to RFPs.” Even a simple “Thanks, but not thanks” would do. What’s the point of having a form on your website if you don’t reply to it?

I reckon ! First Avectra, then TMA, and now ASI/IMIS.

Comment on What are the most common benefits from implementing a new AMS? by Martin https://effectivedatabase.com/what-are-the-most-common-benefits-from-implementing-a-new-ams/#comment-1397 Thu, 01 Sep 2016 17:43:38 +0000 http://effectivedatabase.com/?p=7533#comment-1397 I think you nailed it with your first point Wes – centralizing data in an efficient manner. Amazing how many different places this data can be stored before switching to an AMS!
