Recording: Lady Stardust, Right On Mother

The second of David Bowie’s two consecutive recording sessions for ‘Lady Stardust’ and ‘Right On Mother’ took place on 10 March 1971.

‘Lady Stardust’ would later be re-recorded for Bowie’s fifth album, 1972’s The Rise And Fall Of Ziggy Stardust And The Spiders From Mars.

‘Right On Mother’, meanwhile, was recorded by Peter Noone during the session for his ‘Oh! You Pretty Things’ single on 26 March. Initially intended as the single’s b-side, it was held back for a future single a-side which never occurred.

Bowie intended to record his own version, which again failed to materialise.
