Believed to be an outtake from the Berlin trilogy sessions, David Bowie’s instrumental ‘All Saints’ was first released on the 1991 Rykodisc reissue of Low.

It is possible that ‘All Saints’ predates the Low sessions, and may have originated in 1975, when David Bowie was planning to score The Man Who Fell To Earth.

I have no idea where it came from. I never worked on it. The electronic loops are more eighties – we didn’t have anything like that for Low or “Heroes”.

The release

Low was remastered and released on CD, vinyl and cassette by Rykodisc/EMI in 1991. The new version contained three bonus tracks: ‘Some Are’, ‘All Saints’, and a remix of ‘Sound And Vision’.

In 1993 ‘All Saints’ became the title track of a collection of instrumental pieces. Bowie privately pressed 150 copies of the All Saints, which were given to family and friends as Christmas gifts. It received a wider release in 2001 with a different running order.
