Davie Jones and the Manish Boys performed at The Scene, a mod venue in Ham Yard in London’s Soho on Saturday 19 September 1964.
The Scene was a basement club at 41 Great Windmill Street, Soho, with padded walls with cushions scattered over the floor. It was where many of the mod fashions came into being.
The Scene was really where it was at, but there were only about 15 people down there every night. It was a focal point for the mod movement. I don’t think anyone who was a mod outside Soho realised the fashions and dances all began there.
