Over the past several years I’ve conducted a non-scientific survey of association executives, asking them simply what was top of mind with management of their database.
For a change of pace, I’ve asked the AMS vendors to respond to a set of three questions about how their clients are using their software. The conclusions I’ve drawn from the answers to these three questions are:
- Staff needs more training
- Associations need to review their business processes and how they use the database
- Staff needs more training (no, that’s not a typo)

I encourage all vendors to 1) offer a (free) webinar to clients demonstrating the database enhancements 2) ensure database documentation/literature reflects the most recent version.
Staff turnover issue applies to vendors, too!
