Pet Peeve of the Day

Opt outs that require you to enter the email address at which I no longer want to receive your emails. If YOU sent me the email, why can’t your opt-out system detect WHICH email you sent the email to, and the opt me out automatically?

I’ve got at least four email addresses. When I click “unsubscribe” I shouldn’t have to go back to my email to figure out WHICH email you’re sending to. You should do that work for me.

Hopefully you’re not doing this to your members and customers.

    1. And just today, I had another group do this to me, and worse than that, when I “unsubscribed” there was no confirmation notice on the page. So now I can’t tell if I just unsubscribed or just RE-subscribed! Grrrr….

  1. Wes,

This drives me nuts as well. I have seen a hybrid where the site will show me the email used like this ‘sigv@**********.com’ and ask me to re-type it having to know the characters represented by *********. Seems totally unnecessary since I followed the unsubscribe link to get there!
